Thermal Labels are every where, and you might be using them sooner than you think There are labels, all kinds of them…and then, there are thermal labels. The next time a package is delivered to you, take a look at the labels on that box, the ones with barcodes on them. Sometimes several of them.  You might see quite a few of them depending upon the shipping origin. Every distribution point adds a thermal label printed with Zebra, Epson, Sato, Datamax, and other thermal printers. Sometimes, even when you open the package, there is a return label already printed? Why would these labels interest you? Because you can use thermal labels – especially thermal transfer (TT) labels– just about anywhere in practically any type of application. The thermal transfer label, unlike the direct thermal label, can withstand heat exposure and are more durable. There are specialty materials and adhesive for all kinds of applications from having to identify submerged in ocean water chemical drums, freezer applications, circuit board labeling and more. They won’t turn black or peel like other labels when used in garages or factories. Direct thermal labels have their applications as well, mostly in short-term distribution scenarios. The type you see on those Amazon, or eBay shipments. Or when you open the container shipment from Asia, those cartons are labeled with direct thermal labels. 4 x 6 thermal labels

Although the thermal transfer printers cost a bit more than printing using direct transfer labels, the use of thermal wax ribbons and labels saves money in the long run. Direct thermal labels don’t require ink, toner, or ink ribbons, they work on heat transfer. thermal transfer and direct thermal labels are available in over 150 standard roll and fan-folded label configurations and are available on three-inch cores, wound in and wound out, fan fold, and several types of  adhesives from removable to aggressive are available. Direct thermal labels are also available for desktop printing with 1" cores and mobile printers with 3/4" cores. Almost every size, material combination and quantity can be custom produced. But keep in mind, stock thermal labels will cost a lot less.

The only drawback to thermal labels is lack of color application. Printing one or two color is possible with the correct printer and ribbons using thermal transfer printing. This inability to add multiple colors currently isn’t an issue, because the most commonly used applications for thermal printing are distribution, product identification, inventory, asset labeling, and bar codes that generally do not need to last longer than six months.  If color printing is a must for example GHS labeling, then one has to use thermal transfer printing and use the correct color ribbon. If multicolors is required, pre-printed thermal labels can be custom manufactured to specifications and printed with 4 color processes. This label is usually "Semi-printed": it has a blank area which you can print your designed information. This is especially suited for ready packaged food establishments and other consumer product packaging, for example soap, candle, bath and body. Need the labels for Six months and more? That’s an asset! Thermal labels also have a good many other selling points, and the market is hot for these applications. If you think about selling these labels (or using them for yourself), you’d want labels in stock, ready to ship before 3:00 pm the same day as order on up to 10 cases per size, with arrival time of one to three days from the closest of four warehouses located throughout the country, right?
